Kaizer Chiefs have appointed Bheki Shongwe as the club’s new Group Chief Executive Officer.
Shongwe is a familiar face at Naturena, having previously served as Managing Director of the club between 2009 and 2012. Most recently he sat on the club’s Board of Directors as a non-executive director while running his own businesses.
In his new role he will oversee the day-to-day operations of the club, reporting directly to Chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung and the Board, while working alongside heads of departments.
The appointment comes at a positive moment for Amakhosi, who have secured third place in the league and a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup with two games still to play. It will be their first top-eight finish in three seasons, and their current tally of 51 points is their best since the 2019/20 season.
However, uncertainty remains over the futures of co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef despite the improved league performance.
The club welcomed Shongwe back, saying his deep knowledge of the organisation makes him well-suited to lead Chiefs as they look to build on their 56-year legacy.
